Texas service areas

Texas Fence, Deck, Porch and Gate Service Areas

Every city with a guide, grouped by region. Not every service is listed in every city.

Dallas area

Much of Dallas County sits on Blackland Prairie clay that swells when wet and shrinks in drought, which slowly pushes fence posts and deck footings out of line.

Collin and Denton county suburbs

Frisco, McKinney, Prosper and Celina are among the fastest-growing cities in Texas, so many fences and decks here are less than 15 years old and installed by builders.

Southern and eastern DFW suburbs

South and east of Dallas, subdivisions give way quickly to acreages and small farms, so a single town can need both a backyard privacy fence and a pasture fence.

Fort Worth area

Fort Worth and the Mid-Cities share North Texas clay soils and some of the heaviest spring hail in the state.

Parker, Johnson and Wise county area

West and south of Fort Worth, the land opens into acreages, horse properties and ranches, with rocky limestone ground in many spots.

Hunt County area

These are small towns and farmland northeast of Dallas, with older homes in town and acreages around them.

Texoma (Grayson County area)

Grayson County towns near Lake Texoma sit on the Oklahoma border and are growing quickly as the Dallas suburbs push north.

East Texas (Tyler and Longview area)

East Texas is Piney Woods country, with sandy and red clay soils, tall pines and hardwoods, and more rain than the rest of North Texas.

Houston area

Houston gets about 50 inches of rain a year and stays humid most of the year, so wood fences and decks stay damp longer than in the rest of Texas.

North and west Houston suburbs

Katy, Cypress, Tomball, Spring, The Woodlands and Conroe include some of the fastest-growing master-planned communities in Texas.

Southern Houston suburbs

Sugar Land, Missouri City, Pearland and Manvel are large suburban areas with master-planned communities, while farther south the land turns rural.

Galveston Bay and Brazoria coast

These towns sit along Galveston Bay and the Brazoria County coast, where salt air corrodes fasteners and steel faster than inland.

Golden Triangle (Beaumont–Port Arthur–Orange)

Southeast Texas was hit by Hurricane Rita in 2005, Hurricane Ike in 2008 and Hurricane Laura in 2020, and Harvey's flooding in 2017 was severe here.

Austin metro

West of I-35, Austin sits on Hill Country limestone that often needs a rock auger to set posts; east of I-35, Blackland Prairie clay swells and shrinks.

Texas Hill Country

The Hill Country has thin soil over limestone, so setting posts often means drilling into rock.

San Antonio area

North San Antonio sits on limestone and caliche, while the south and east sides have heavier clay soils.

Central Texas

Waco, Temple, Belton, Killeen and Bryan–College Station sit on Blackland Prairie clay, with rolling ranch land between them.

West Texas

West Texas is dry, windy country with caliche soil that is hard to dig and dust storms that sandblast wood.

Panhandle and South Plains

Amarillo and Lubbock are among the windiest cities in the United States, so fence panels act like sails in a storm.

El Paso area

El Paso gets under 10 inches of rain a year, and intense sun and wind are harder on wood than rain is.

Coastal Bend

Corpus Christi and Victoria are close to the Gulf, where steady wind and salt air wear down hardware quickly.
